Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar (Born on January 1, 1969) started his career in academics in February 2020 from Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, as an assistant professor in Centre for Deen Dayal Upadhyay Studies. He joined the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) in October 2020 as a Professor in English Journalism Department. He has an additional charge of Urdu Journalism Course Director. He is also Dean Students’ Welfare, HoD, Outreach and Placements and editor of IIMC’s prestigious research journal ‘Sanchar Madhyam’.

Prof. Kumar is the author and editor of eleven books. His literary work includes: The Future Newsroom (English), Mediakarma: Yogyata aur Yatharth (Hindi), Deendayal Upadhyaya World of Literature: An Annotated Bibliography (English), Unsung Builders of Modern Bharat: Following Gandhi by Deeds (English), Bapu Ke Padchihon Par: Adhunik Bharat ke Gumnam Samaj-Shilpi (Hindi), Innovations in Administration (English), Asarkari Prashasan, Nai Soch, Nai Drishti (Hindi), India’s Vision for Global Prosperity (English), and Jammu Kashmir: An Analysis of Facts (English). He has attended, both as a speaker and participant, over 100 workshops and seminars in India and abroad. His research papers have been published in both national and international research journals. For the last five years Prof. Kumar has been working to establish ‘Solution Journalism’ as a mainstream beat in the Newsroom. 
Prof. Kumar has done Ph.D. in Journalism from Vardhman Mahaveer Open University, Kota, Rajasthan. His topic of the doctoral thesis was: “A Study of Paradigm Shift in News Operation Management with Special Reference to Technological Interventions in India (In the context of The Times of India, The Indian Express, Dainik Bhaskar, Rajasthan Patrika, Times Now, Aaj Tak, and their web portals).” He has Master’s degrees in Journalism & Mass Communication as well as in Political Science.
Before joining academics, Prof. (Dr.) Pramod Kumar has been an eminent journalist having over three decades’ experience as a working journalist. His about 3000 articles, reports, features and interviews (of eminent personalities) have been published in leading newspapers of English, Hindi, and Urdu. He has interviewed over 150 eminent personalities of India and abroad including Shri Narendra Modi, Shri Atal Behari Vajpayee, Shri L.K. Advani, Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Shri Rajnath Singh, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Shri N.D. Tiwari, Shri Sunderlal Bahuguna, Sardar Buta Singh, Shri Sitaram Kesari, Maulana Wahiddudin Khan, Shri Mohan Bhagwat, Shri Nanaji Deshmukh, Shri D. Raja, Shri Gurudas Das Gupta, Prof. Balraj Madhok, Shri George Fernandes, Jain Acharya Shri Vijay Ratna Sunder Surishwar Maharaj, Dr. S.Y. Quraishi, Dr. Tahil-ul-Qadri (eminent Pakistani scholar), Rio Olympian Sakshi Malik, Nobel Laureate Shri Kailash Satyarthi, Israeli singer, artist, musician and writer Shri Gil Ron Shama, Imam Shaikh Mohammad Tawhidi (an Iranian-born Shia Muslim Imam), etc.
A large number of news stories and articles written by him have been documented in the Parliament Library, New Delhi. His special column, ‘The Trendsetter’, which appeared in ‘Organiser Weekly’ from 2013 to 2018, has been a big hit, as it introduced the success stories of some unsung heroes of India who are working in remote areas of the country and have presented a big picture of positive change in their respective areas of working. Apart from his long career in prestigious English Weekly ‘Organiser’ and Hindi Weekly ‘Panchjanya’ he has contributed news stories, articles, features, etc. in around two dozen leading newspapers and periodicals of the country. Apart from this, he has been an accredited journalist with the Government of Delhi from 1998 to 2020. He has also been a Member of the Delhi Press Accreditation Committee (Government of Delhi) from February 2014 to February 2016. He was a Member of Central Press Accreditation Committee (Government of India) from March 2016 to April 2018. He has been felicitated by different organisations for his outstanding contribution to the field of journalism.
